Commencement 2022

Recap of Commencement 2021

Thank you graduates, guests, and volunteers for making our 2021 Commencement festivities so successful!

Our very first Drive-In Grad Walk was held on Saturday, May 15. Students arrived with their families in as many cars as they desired and followed directions to our staging area, which they drove up to. The graduate exited the vehicle, received graduation materials, had their names read over a loudspeaker, had a photo taken, and walked across our staging area.

The Virtual Commencement Ceremony was released on May 29, 2021. It included every aspect of our traditional Commencement Ceremony, such as speeches from our executive and system leadership, video submissions from students and faculty, a keynote address, and much more. A virtual aspect may become a permanent part of the commencement tradition here at PPCC.

Apply for Your Degree or Certificate

You've worked hard, and are ready to graduate. To verify that you have completed all the required courses for your degree you'll need to apply for graduation.

1.     Meet with your advisor to make sure you’re on track to graduate.
a.     You must apply for graduation to receive your degree/certificate even if you don’t plan to participate in the commencement ceremony.
b.     The best time to apply for graduation is immediately after you register for your final semester and no later than the posted deadline.
                                               i.     Summer: July 15
                                              ii.     Fall: November 15
                                             iii.     Spring: March 15

2.     After reviewing your academic records, Graduation Evaluators will contact you at both your college-assigned student email and at the mailing address you include on your application for graduation to notify you of the results of your audit.

3.     Your degree/certificate will be posted to your transcript approximately 4 weeks after the end of the current semester.
a.     Diplomas are not issued at the commencement ceremony. Diplomas and certificates will be mailed to the address provided on your application for graduation approximately 8 weeks after your degree is posted to your transcript. It is your responsibility to make sure the address you provide will be valid at that time.
b.     If you have unmet requirements, we will keep your application on file for one semester and check your records during that time to determine if the degree/certification requirements have been met.
c.      After one semester has passed and degree requirements remain unmet, you must re-apply for graduation.

4.     In April, all recent graduates and those who have applied for graduation by the posted deadlines will receive a letter from Student Life with information about the commencement ceremony, which occurs in May.

This letter will have all the information on the date, time, location, and cap and gown ordering information, so please be on the lookout for it.

5.     Honors recognition at the commencement ceremony for students who are planning to graduate in spring and are also taking courses to fulfill the requirements of their degree/certification will be based on the preceding semester of attendance.
a.     Example 1: Student A has a CUM GPA of 3.4 at the end of fall semester and needs two classes to complete their degree/certificate. Student A applies for graduation and plans to attend the spring commencement ceremony. Student A finishes their spring classes with a 4.0. Student A will not receive recognition at the ceremony.
b.     Example 2: Student B has a CUM GPA of 3.5 at the end of fall semester and needs two classes to complete their degree/certificate. Student B applies for graduation and plans to attend the spring commencement ceremony. Student B finishes their spring classes with a 4.0. Student A will receive recognition at the ceremony.
